Grow Native for Water Quality

Join FNLC Executive Director, Bridget Butler, to discover the benefits of native plants, trees, and shrubs for shoreline health. Planting native vegetation along the shoreline helps prevent erosion, filters pollutants, improves water quality, and enhances wildlife habitat. Unlike lawns, which contribute to runoff and erosion, deep-rooted native plants stabilize soil and absorb excess nutrients before they reach the lake.

Bridget will share some of her favorite native species for shoreline landscaping as well as some tips for planned plantings. She'll also tell you how to receive a free property assessment and report through the Lake Wise program. All this just in time for the local native plant sale by Franklin County Natural Resources Conservation District!
