Join the Friends of the Missisquoi for a day celebrating the 2024 Walk for the Wild. There will be birding, kayaking, speakers, and information tables from local organizations.

About the event
The Walk for the Wild 5K Challenge can be completed on the trails or on the water! FNLC will be presenting on improving water quality at 11 am, please see the schedule below.
The Friends will be at the refuge on Sunday, October 13th, to help you get moving in the right direction! Click here to register for the 5K Challenges below.
To complete the 5K Challenge and do some birding along the way, come to the refuge at 8:00AM to join in on a bird walk led by the Green Mountain Audubon Society.
To complete the 5K Challenge by foot, come to the Visitor Center anytime between 10:00AM and 3:00PM. You will be introduced to 3 of the refuge's trails and a variety of habitats. Â
To complete the 5K Challenge by water, put in your canoe or kayak at Mac's Bend between 1:00PM and 3:00PM. No canoe or kayak? No problem! There will be a limited number of kayaks on hand for those who may need one.
Can't visit us during National Wildlife Refuge Week? You can still MAKE A DONATION to support the Friends. And you're invited to COMPLETE THE 5K CHALLENGE VIRTUALLY from any national wildlife refuge or your favorite nature spot.
