About the event
Friends of Northern Lake Champlain will be co-hosting a Shoreline Social with the North Hero Shoreland Committee at the North Hero Community Center to discuss strategies for improving shoreline health along Lake Champlain.
Join us for an evening to explore a variety of options to improve shoreline habitat. We'll breakdown some of the buzzwords in this work like vegetated buffers, impervious surfaces, and sheet erosion. FNLC will share opportunities to participate in free consultations through Lake Wise or Stream Wise, explore the potential for developing an action plan for Carry Bay and/or Pelots Bay, and discuss the needs of shoreline landowners. We want to hear from you about challenges you're facing and actions you would like to take!
We'll be joined by partners from Vermont Lakes & Ponds and the Grand Isle County Natural Resource Conservation District. Plenty of handouts and take homes will be available as well as on-site sign-ups for Lake Wise or Stream Wise consultations.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Registration is not required, but appreciated.
This event will focus on non-regulatory action steps to decrease phosphorus and other nutrients from entering Lake Champlain. We will not be covering topics such as nuisance aquatic plants, permitting, or enforcement.
